We’re excited to introduce Rwandan Rhapsody, our latest single-origin coffee from the Gasharu coffee farms, located on the scenic shores of Lake Kivu near Nyungwe National Park. Established in 1973, Gasharu Coffee is a family-owned business that started with a young boy’s dream and has grown into a community-focused enterprise.
This region, with its rich volcanic soil and high altitudes (1,650 to 2,100 meters), provides the ideal environment for coffee cultivation. The dedication of 1,750 farmers from 12 villages results in diverse coffee types, including fully washed, natural, anaerobic, and honey-processed beans.
"Rwandan Rhapsody" cherries are hand-harvested, meticulously sorted, and processed at the Gasharu washing station. The beans are dried on raised beds for 4 to 6 weeks, ensuring rich flavor development. The name "Isoko," meaning "Source," reflects the essence of this coffee.
Gasharu’s Rugori (Women's Crown) program underscores their commitment to community, offering daycare, healthcare, and economic opportunities through livestock and garden projects.
